An abdominoplasty is a significant but very well-established procedure, and I will explain exactly what is involved, where your scar will sit and how it is positioned to be as discreet as possible. After surgery you will be supported through each phase of recovery, with clear advice on rest, movement and when to return to your usual activities. It is normal for the final result to take time to reveal itself as swelling settles and the tissues soften.
What to expect
4 Hours
A flatter and more toned abdomen will be seen immediately post surgery. However, full results may not be visible for several months until swelling subsides.
It’s advisable to take it easy for the first few weeks post-op, avoiding strenuous exercise for six weeks and heavy lifting for three months. Most patients return to light, non-physical work within two to three weeks. I will advise you on what is right for your role and recovery.
General Anaesthetic.
Excess skin and fat are permanently removed. However, changes in abdominal tissue can be influenced by age, weight gain, pregnancy and exercise.
