If you have a mole or lesion that concerns you, I will see you promptly to examine it and explain clearly what I find and what I recommend. Most skin cancer surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic in a single visit, and I plan every excision with both complete removal and the best possible cosmetic result in mind. Tissue removed is sent for laboratory analysis, and I will go through the results with you personally and discuss any further care that may be needed.
What to expect
Up to 1 Hour
Discreet scarring. The lesion is removed with a margin of healthy tissue for completeness, and where a larger area is involved I will discuss reconstruction options with you beforehand. Scars fade and soften over the following months.
Minimal, you’ll be able to return to normal activities within 5-7 days. Sutures are usually removed within one to two weeks, depending on the site.
Local Anaesthetic.
Permanent removal is the aim of surgery. I will discuss your histology results with you and advise on any follow-up or ongoing skin checks that are appropriate.
