Every scar is different, and your consultation is an opportunity for me to assess yours carefully and talk you through the techniques most likely to improve its appearance. It is important to know that scar revision aims to make a scar less noticeable rather than remove it entirely, and I will be honest with you about the improvement you can realistically expect. Most scar revision is carried out under local anaesthetic with minimal disruption to your routine, and I will guide you on scar care to support the best possible result.
What to expect
Patient Specific
Reduced appearance of scar tissue, with improvements in texture, colour, width or orientation depending on the technique used. Revised scars continue to mature and fade over the following twelve months.
Minimal downtime. You can usually return to normal activities within a few days, avoiding strenuous exercise and stretching of the area until healed. Sutures, where used, are typically removed within one to two weeks.
Local Anaesthetic.
Long-lasting enhancement. The improvement is permanent, and consistent scar care in the first year helps to optimise the final result.
